I started to feel like I was an ATM everytime one of my cats entered this clinic. If money is no object for you then this won’t be an issue. We spent over $1500 on two cats in a 12 month period and some of that was certainly necessary. But I felt that some of the charges were excessive. For this reason, we are changing clinics to a non-feline specialist clinic in the future. Simply so I don’t have this dread of being ripped off every time I walk through the door.

    - Make sure you are clear with them with the goals of care for your animal, as they seem to assume you want every test done to prolong the life of your pet, rather than focus on quality of life and palliative care. This can lead them to persist in taking unnecessary tests despite it not affecting the management of your pet. Eg. Having a test even though it won’t change the management of the animal, but may provide you with more information.

I thought a check up and chip install would make our sweet creature unsettled and agitated.

I have taken my cats to this clinic for a year and this is my summary of the pros and cons.

The vet was professional and lovely, knew how to handle our cat with care, and our little one has never responded more positively to another human. 10/10 would recommend

    - They do not communicate well when it comes to money, for example, I was taking my cat for a blood test a few months after her annual check up. The vet asked if she could look her over, I said yes. However, I was not informed that this constitute ANOTHER annual check up and would be another almost $130 on the bill!

    Cons:
  • Alexander
    Added 2013.05.24
    - Medication mark ups are insane at this clinic. Previously we have been buying medication for $60 at other vet clinics (before moving to Hobart) or $50 online. However, the cat clinic charged double this price. To get a script written out at a $25.50 cost and buying online is still cheaper than buying it from them. I think it is ridiculous and makes the consumer feel ripped off.
